In the spirit of respect and truth, I want to acknowledge that I and my ancestors are visitors on the land on which we are situated today and honour the Elders, Traditional Knowledge Keepers, and the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people who make their home in the traditional territory of Treaty 7. These territories in Southern Alberta include the Blackfoot Confederacy, comprising the Siksika (Sig-sig-ga), Piikani (Bee-gun-nee), and Kainai(Guy-neye) First Nations; the Tsuut’ina First Nation; the Îyâxe (E-a-hay) Nakoda including Chiniki (Chin-i-kee), Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations; and are also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Regions 5 & 6.
