“Healing cannot occur if we do not accept our worthiness—that we are worth healing, even if doing so might shake up our view of the world and how we interact with others.”

— Mario Martinez

Who I Work With

Anyone who has experienced the following:

  • I work alongside people who have endured distressing or traumatic experiences that have left them feeling fragmented and lost. Learn more about trauma counselling here. Additionally, I work with those who experience ongoing systemic and cultural oppression. I have been intentional in engaging and participating in workshops and trainings to learn how to support the BIPOC community that has and continues to endure oppression in this world.

  • Dealing with a diagnosis can be tiring and discouraging, leaving you unsure about getting back to your old life. This process can make you feel lonely because of its emotional and physical impacts. However, healing can bring new strengths and insights, helping you move on through difficulties. My hope is that you can turn your experience into empowerment and growth with support and guidance.

  • I work from the perspective that any mental health concern can often be a symptom(s) of a distressing experience or the omission of important life-affirming experiences. I welcome anyone struggling with anxiety, depression, and the symptoms that come with these. You may have been diagnosed with and are seeking further understanding, please reach out with any questions.

  • I work with anyone on the continuum of addiction. I welcome anyone in a 12 Step fellowship group, SMART recovery group and beyond. I have worked with many versions of recovery groups. Lastly, I take a harm reduction philosophy to recovery, there is no judgment here.

  • Having lived alongside and loved a close family member who was entrenched in addiction, for much of my life I deeply understand the heartache and impact of watching a loved one suffer through addiction. This experience can bring complicated grief and ambiguous loss depending on your situation. I am here to support you in finding a way to support oneself, honour boundaries, grieve what has been lost and whatever else is needed for your wellness.

  • Through the years I have had the honour to walk alongside and learn from Indigenous Elders, as well as, support healing for Indigenous people in a variety of settings. I continue to learn Indigenous teachings and practices. I also continue to unlearn what my ancestors and colonization have done to the people of this land. I am committed to offering subsidized and accessible therapy to Indigenous people and due to this I am in the process of becoming a First Nation Non-Insured Benefit Provider.

  • Working the front lines can be fulfilling and can take its toll on an individual. For some people, the demands can lead to chronic stress, exhaustion and eventually burnout. Some people can also experience vicarious trauma or secondary trauma in the workplace as a result of their exposure to other's trauma.

I believe that self-care involves collective care. I would be happy to support you in finding a way out of this place.

Specialized Modalities

I possess a specialized skill which has prepared me to provide comprehensive support in assessing and addressing your needs through somatic-based therapy that will support your nervous system to process trauma if this is your therapeutic goal.

My extensive training can help you shift from overwhelm to ease.

I will be your guide in reclaiming what was lost and teach you the tools to regain your sense of self and, thus, your sense of how to move through the world and relationships.

I receive ongoing supervision and consultation around supporting people healing from trauma.

I currently offer individual therapy sessions, both in-person and online. You'll be able to learn more about my therapeutic approach here.

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy - Trauma

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a somatic-based therapy that recognizes the importance of integrating the mind and body to support the processing and healing of trauma. This technique involves building body awareness of sensations to help metabolize (process) the lingering impact of trauma. Learn more here

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a modality to support people who have experienced a traumatic event or distressing experience. The technique involves bilateral eye movements to help integrate traumatic memories, provide relief from distressing symptoms, and promote healing.

*Please note that I will assess your level of preparedness for A.R.T., as it is a trauma-processing modality. Please feel free to contact me with further questions. Learn more here.

Complex Trauma Training Certification

Comprehensive training on the understanding, assessment and treatment of complex trauma and how adverse childhood experiences can impact an individual across a lifespan. This training equipped me with the vital knowledge of dissociation that can be associated with complex trauma.
