“Not all addictions are rooted in abuse or trauma, but I do believe they can all be traced to painful experiences. A hurt is at the centre of all addictive behaviours.”

-Dr Gabor Maté

Wild Journey Recovery was born from a long personal journey in recovery. This led me to pursue a professional path to support others in healing from trauma, chronic stress and addiction for the past seven years.

My perspective on recovery is that life is an ever-changing, messy path; nothing is linear, which is okay. It’s like the wild places I have been privileged to roam; the peaks and valleys are part of the depth of our human experience. The tangled earth and wooded places can be challenging to forge a path through, but the way to healing is formed with each step.

Recovery

for those suffering from stress and trauma-related experiences, including addiction,
and mental health disorders.

Recovery is a means to re-cover something that may have been misplaced, lost, or buried deep inside yourself. It can mean recovering from trauma, addiction, or any mental health disorder you may struggle with. Just like in the great outdoors, sometimes we need a guide, and I believe the same goes for navigating our internal wilderness.

I offer a space and place to recover from whatever you feel has been taken from you and support nervous system regulation to return to the life you envision for yourself. I believe that trauma and addiction are closely tied, and I have spent over ten years learning how best to support people in this place.

Feeling overwhelmed and at a loss of what to do? Let me support you in uncovering what the cause & the solution is to reclaim your life.

Recovery can be found in many places.

I work from the perspective that addiction is an attempt to manage the pain and suffering that one is experiencing. A coping mechanism that has gone wrong, and can become maladaptive. Addiction can take many forms, including behavioural, process and substance. I work with all types of addiction on the continuum. Having over a decade of experience in the realm of addiction I hope I can support you on the road to recovery. Learn more here.

Addiction

Chronic stress can impact our physical bodies in a myriad of ways. When unchecked, the brain, body and nervous system can become unwell because our system forgets how to recover from stress. Eventually, when the body cannot recover from stress, extreme exhaustion sets in.

Burnout & Exhaustion

Trauma is not only an event that has happened to you but how your body responds to the event that happened to you. Trauma can take many forms, including adverse childhood experiences, a car accident, any type of abuse, etc. The traumatic event often changes an individual, like a fracturing or loss of self. As a result, people can experience many unbearable symptoms, including anxiety, depression, insomnia, addiction, relationship issues, emotional dysregulation, etc. Additionally, the impact of trauma can lead to a lack of ability to manage stress on a daily basis which can transform into forms of chronic illness and/or burn out.
